Robin was asked to be a speaker at the 5th Annual Self-Employment in the Arts (SEA) Conference sponsored by the Coleman Foundation and
North Central College held in February…Robin graciously shared her experiences, skills, thoughts, ideas and passion of self employment with
over 400 college students and adults pursuing careers in the arts.
Her presentations were invaluable as she discussed not only her own career path to self-employment but provided valuable information about
the importance of the written word, image and marketability. After she spoke she was not only described as “inspiring, optimistic, creative, and
empowering,” but also as “a role model,” “someone to have as a mentor,” “a spirit to be followed” and “awesome.”

It was a special pleasure for me to have Robin Weidner spend time with my class of seniors. I thought she was terrific. In the first place, during
the first hour of class, before her arrival, I had been suggesting to students that they should inquire about the person of the interviewer, what
their objectives and problems were, and how they might help to solve those problems. Then Robin came into class, about 10 minutes later, and
suggested that students try to identify the interviewer’s problems and think how they might help solve them. It is wonderful to have guests
confirm what a teacher says, but to do so in real time is the nth degree of reinforcement!
And everything she said about how to promote oneself was instructive, too. I much appreciate Robin Weidner’s willingness to serve as an example
to these young people. Her delivery could scarcely have been more lively and engaging. Would love to have her back!
